What is your Alma Mater?
Middle Tennessee State University
Where do you currently teach?
Siegel Middle School in Rutherford County, TN
How long have you been teaching?
This is my 6th year of teaching
What do you love about teaching?
I love teaching because it is my earnest desire to help my students reach their potential. Some of the greatest joys I have as a teacher are when I see my students radiate with pride as they recognize their musical improvements and when I see my older band students demonstrate true leadership as they encourage their fellow band members to succeed.
If you could choose another job for one day, what would it be?
Not applicable :-)

Something that is important to me is to recognize band students that go 'above and beyond', and one of the ways I do this is through recognizing a "Student of the Week" from each class period every Monday. Each "Student of the Week" demonstrated outstanding improvement, character, or leadership during the previous week and is rewarded with special recognition and in-class activities during the week they receive this distinction.
Tell us one thing about you that people would be surprised to know or something you are passionate about besides teaching.
As a native Tennessean, I love the nature and wildlife across West, Middle, and East Tennessee. I enjoy traveling across the state and seeing the beauty of each region.
Why do you choose to be a member of TMEA?
I am proud to be a member of the Tennessee Music Education Association because TMEA made a significant impact on my life and TMEA continues to make a difference in the lives of countless musicians across our state. When I was in high school, I was inspired by the experience of auditioning for and performing in the TMEA All-State Band. I am honored to be part of TMEA as we continue to further the performance opportunities, resources, and advocacy efforts for musicians and music educators in Tennessee.
