TMEA Awards Criteria
and Nomination Process
Nominations may be submitted only by TMEA members in good standing and must be received by February 15. Each nomination must include the completed nomination form and support materials as requested for the specific award category. Nominees are reviewed by the TMEA Council of Past Presidents who will make recommendations to the TMEA officers for final selection. The nominees selected will be contacted for additional information. TMEA Awards will be presented during the opening general session at the State Music Conference.
TMEA HALL OF FAME AWARD Purpose – To give recognition to one or more TMEA members for exceptional support and outstanding accomplishments to the advancement of music education in the schools of Tennessee. Criteria for Nomination Nominee must:

OUTSTANDING YOUNG MUSIC EDUCATOR AWARD Purpose – To recognize work by one or more young music educators who have shown extraordinary promise, diligence, and success. Criteria for Nomination Nominee must:

OUTSTANDING ADMINISTRATOR AWARD Purpose - To recognize significant leadership by one or more Tennessee school administrators in support of music education. Criteria for Nomination Nominee must have demonstrated outstanding achievement in support of the total music education program for which the administrator is responsible. SERVICE RECOGNITION THE NOMINATION PROCESS TMEA members may (and are encouraged to) nominate themselves. Each nomination must include the completed nomination form and must be received by February 15. The recipients will be contacted for further information. TMEA Recognition of Service Certificates will be presented during the opening general session at the State Music Conference. I. RECOGNITION OF SERVICE CERTIFICATE for music teachers who have taught for 25 years Purpose - To recognize service in, and contribution to, music education and TMEA. Criteria for Nomination – Service in the music teaching profession for at least 25 years (not necessarily all in Tennessee). Nominees may be either currently teaching or retired from teaching. Current teachers are required to be members of TMEA. Required nomination materials: II. RECOGNITION OF SERVICE CERTIFICATE for music teachers who have taught for 40 years Purpose - To recognize service in, and contribution to, music education and TMEA. Criteria for Nomination – Service in the music teaching profession for 40 years or more (not necessarily all in Tennessee). Nominees may be either currently teaching or retired from teaching. Current teachers are required to be members of TMEA. Required nomination materials: FRIEND OF MUSIC EDUCATION AWARD Purpose - To recognize an individual, organization and/or a corporation who have contributed in a significant way to the support of music education in Tennessee. Criteria for nomination Consideration should be given to quality of service rendered, number of years involved, number of people affected, and service beyond the call of duty.
